shly

The independent battery health layer for electric fleets.

Continuous, methodologically transparent state-of-health telemetry for fleet operators, leasing companies, and insurers — built on top of your existing telematics, with a fully audit-replayable scoring pipeline and a data model ready for the EU Battery Passport.

The residual-value problem

Battery health is 40–60% of an EV's residual value. Nobody is measuring it continuously.

End-of-lease appraisal, claim assessment, end-of-policy underwriting — every decision in an electric vehicle's lifecycle hinges on a battery state-of-health number that nobody verifies in real time. Existing tools deliver single-snapshot tests with closed methodologies, or fleet-grade telemetry without methodology rigour. Sohly is the layer in between.

Approach

A number actuaries and risk teams can rely on.

Three design principles run through every SoH score Sohly publishes.

01

Continuous, not snapshot

The signal-to-noise ratio in EV battery telemetry is roughly 1:10. Single-point tests are statistically meaningless. Sohly samples over time, every vehicle, every day.

02

Disclosed uncertainty

Temperature-corrected against historical weather data. Cohort-normalised across make/model/year. Confidence bands are published, not hidden — exactly the input shape risk and actuarial teams need.

03

Audit-replayable

Every score is deterministic and versioned. Inputs, methodology version, and outputs are logged — full reconstruction on demand for any downstream consumer: lease-end appraisal, claim, resale, Battery Passport. Cryptographic anchoring on the roadmap.

Inside the methodology

A SoH number with a provable confidence guarantee.

Every Sohly report is a three-point range — P50 median estimate, P05 lower bound, P95 upper bound — never a single number. The bounds are calibrated with a distribution-free coverage guarantee, making them directly usable as an underwriting input. Full technical brief available under NDA.

Charging-curve features

Electrochemical signatures, not fleet proxies

Sohly extracts direct electrochemical signatures of cell degradation from the charging curve — not range-based proxies. Specific feature derivation is in the technical brief.

≥ 90% by design

Distribution-free coverage

The 90% interval is calibrated to contain the true SoH at least 90% of the time, on any data distribution — a property the underlying calibration method gives by construction. Empirical coverage figures shared under NDA.

Underwriting-grade

Tight enough to underwrite

Intervals are calibrated to be tight enough to price residuals from P05 directly. Every prediction carries a risk_band field (LOW / MEDIUM / HIGH) that flags when the interval widens beyond what's safe for unattended pricing.

Where we plug in

Built on top of fleet telematics — not a replacement.

Sohly is an analytics layer that sits on top of established fleet telematics. We ingest battery telemetry from those platforms and produce continuous, audit-replayable SoH telemetry and Battery Passport-ready data — designed to live in marketplace ecosystems, not to compete with them.

Geotab Marketplace

Battery health analytics on top of Geotab Data Feed

Ingests LogRecord and StatusData streams from the MyGeotab SDK. Built for fleet operators already on Geotab — sold as an add-on, not a parallel platform.

Smartcar · Phase 2

OAuth-based vehicle access

Planned fallback for fleets and marketplaces without proprietary telematics. EU production-grade coverage across Renault, MG, BMW, VW, and more — activated once the Geotab pipeline reaches statistical significance.

Why now

Three EU-level shifts converge in 2026–2027.

2026–2027

The used-EV wave

The first major generation of leased electric vehicles is hitting the secondary market in volume. Residual-value uncertainty is the single biggest friction point.

2027

EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542

Mandatory battery passport disclosure for EVs placed on the market — every battery will need a SoH data feed. A B2B telemetry market that did not exist before.

2026

EU Data Act Article 5

Telematics access opens beyond OEM gatekeeping. The moat shifts from who has the data to who has the methodology and the trust.

Roadmap

Three phases. One thesis.

Sohly is the independent, methodologically transparent battery-health layer for the EU electric-vehicle ecosystem. We sell first to fleets and insurers; the surface grows with the market.

Phase 1 — Now

Tier 1 methodology, first fleet pilot

Continuous range-based SoH scoring, temperature-corrected, cohort-normalised. Deterministic residual-value forecasts with full audit trail. First integration target: Geotab Data Feed → SoH telemetry pipeline.

Phase 2 — Next

Geotab Marketplace, cohort at scale

Listed on the Geotab Marketplace as a battery health analytics add-on. Cohort coverage extended across the top EU EV models for statistical significance.

Phase 3 — 2027+

Battery Passport, actuarial intervals

Battery-Passport-aligned data model. Confidence intervals calibrated for actuarial pricing. Direct integration with leasing residual-value desks and insurance underwriting workflows.
